Forge believes that an alternative, missional approach to being and doing church is best supported by an alternative approach to Christian spirituality. Intensive two therefore builds on intensive one by suggesting that we need to rediscover a spirituality of engagement, exploring how this spirituality might be successfully sustained, and what implications this spirituality has for the practice of discipling others. The spirituality of engagement that residents will be challenged to rediscover is a spirituality that imitates the life of Christ by being based on active, intentional engagement with the world. Residents will learn that the process of rediscovering an action-based spirituality of engagement begins with them learning to see God at work in the world and to view every moment of their life a chance to partner with God in his mission through the ordinary things they do everyday.
